Prost, Arizona! It’s Oktoberfest!

It’s October in Arizona, which basically means we’re entering into the best weather of the year!  We are all excited to exchange our air conditioned offices, movie theatres, and restaurants for hiking, biking, and weiner-dog races.

Weiner-dog races, you say?  Yes!  On Sunday, October 11, 2015, you can watch 32 little dogs dash for a chance at glory at Tempe’s 44th Annual Oktoberfest.  If you’re a runner, you can don your fanciest lederhosen or dirndl and help support the Frank Kush Youth Foundation on Saturday morning in the Frank Kush Foot Race.  Gather your family and friends and check out the fun starting this afternoon and continuing on Saturday and Sunday.

Our weekend party is an emulation of Munich’s centuries-old, annual folk festival that originally celebrated King Ludwig’s marriage with a commemorative horse race.  Since then, the Munich event has attracted millions of visitors who enjoy polka music and steins filled by one of Munich’s six registered breweries.

Although you won’t find the Munich beers in Tempe this weekend, you can choose between nearly 50 other brews from Arizona’s own Four Peaks, the U.S., and the world and wash it all down with locally-made brats, sauerkraut, and strudel.

No matter what you do this weekend, we hope that you enjoy the beautiful weather, have fun, and drive sober!
