Happy Halloween from all of us at azdui.com! We’re super excited that Halloween is on a Friday this year. Whether you’re planning on going out in a great costume, watching Frankenstein or A Nightmare on Elm Street, or taking the children out trick-or-treating, we hope that you will have fun and be safe.

If you, your friends, or family will be drinking this weekend (after all, now is as great a time as ever to try vampire punch), please take the time to make plans for how you will get home safely. If you aren’t planning on drinking, let others know that you are willing to drive a few extra miles to make sure that everyone else on the road is safe. Tragically, we have already suffered the loss of Chandler Police Department Officer David Payne due to a car accident early this morning, and police suspect that alcohol was a variable in the crash.

If you’re headed out this weekend, expect the increased presence of law enforcement on the roads, especially in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler as part of the Halloween DUI task force. According to Tempe Police spokeswoman Molly Enright in a recent article in The State Press, these agencies, along with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and Arizona Department of Public Safety will be joining forces to “keep trick-or-treaters safe and curb driving under the influence [DUI].”

Let’s all do our part to make sure that this is a great Halloween. Have an extra spooky and happy holiday weekend!
